10 Blogging Mistake to Avoid according to John Chow
As an online marketer guru, John Chow notice that there are several big mistakes often conduct by beginner blogger. His advices were rewrite as self-help for my blogging activity.
Not Updating
John Chow underlined the posting frequency and the willingness and readiness to update our blog regularly. It doesn’t matter how long the frequency is, one post per day or per week, we should make a commitment to keep our blog updated according to the schedule. Nothing kills a blog faster than lack of updates, he says.
Blogging Only for Money
Yes, we can get some money for blogging. But, say NO to blogging ONLY for money. I agree absolutely with John Chow. Money is not everything. Money is just an extra income to our blogging activity, not the main and sole purpose. For me, hang out and meet new friend would be enough.
Rushing a Post
I also feel this problem. When we think we hear a new story or get a fresh idea, we want other people to know it fast. However, there is a lot of chance we have made mistake in our premature posting. Every posting worth our time to checked twice or even more. It’s our credibility we risk for.
Not Being Personal
A blog is not news. People would rather go to CNN rather than our blog. What makes reading a blog different is personal perspective. In blogging, our opinion matters. It doesn’t matter who we are…
Being a Copycat
Every of us is a unique entity, so does our blog supposed to be. Without the distinctiveness, what make our blog different than other blog? I have to admit, this would be a lot of temptation if we see other people did copy paste, and we continue to ask ourselves, so why don’t we? Well, we are them anyway…
Not Giving a Full Feed RSS
Previously, I thought not giving full feed RSS will direct readers to our blog. According to John Chow’s experience, his blog traffic increase just when he turned on his full feed RSS.
Not Reaching Out to Other Bloggers
To be honest, I was too lazy to visit other blog before. But, saying hi to other blog is indeed the best way to get our blog notice by other blogger. Giving a comment, and not just a cheap comment, will direct other blogger to your blog.
Writing for Google Instead of People
Being Google friendly is important at one side, but being readers friendly is a lot more important. This is a common mistake for many internet marketers, since backlink, keywords and pageranks are all that matter. However, Google follows people. People won’t read search engine-optimized page, or leave a comment, since that kind of page, or worst, blog, is a junk.
Not Reading John Chow dot Com
OK. Though John Chow won’t pay me any penny, I also refer to his blog to learn about (almost) everything. Well, also consider to read John Doro dot Com when read John Chow dot Com. It’s the same John…

Being a copycat was my real problem with my personal blog before. I tried to copy-paste before but good thing my mentor told me to create another blogsite and delete the old one with the copycat. I am happy with my personal blog right now
